They
say things get better with time. Dan McVeigh has been involved in
the music industry for most of his life. Dan started out as a
keyboard player/lead vocalist in a number of Top 40 Rock/Country
music groups before working on his career as a solo artist.
He started writing songs at age 17 and has 5 Billboard songwriting
awards to his credit as well as finishing 4th in the Canadian
Country Music Hall Of Fame Songwriting Competition. He is a
two-time winner in the NSAI/CMT Song contest in the past few
years. Dan was recognized for his creative work from the City of Brampton with
a 2001 Arts Acclaim Award. Dan also finished 2nd in
Starquest (a country music talent competition) and 2nd
in the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest (songwriting
division) in 2004. Dan topped off 2004 with a nomination for
future star of the year at the (OCPFA) Ontario country music
awards.
Since 1994, Dan has been involved with the Nashville Songwriters
Association International (NSAI) which is one of the world's
largest songwriter organizations. He runs the Toronto NSAI
workshop as a NSAI coordinator with Laura Ranieri. Dan owns and
operates Play It Again Dan Music, a digital recording studio and
music publishing company. Dan's studio produces songwriter demos
and CD's for both himself and other songwriter/artists. He also
produces music for Film/Television/Video productions.
He
is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International
(NSAI), Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA), the Ontario
Country Performer and Fan Association (OCPFA), the Ontario Council
of Folk Festivals (OCFF), the
Ottawa Valley Music Association (OVMA), The
Brampton Arts Council (BAC) and Society Of Composers, Authors And
Music Publishers Of Canada (SOCAN).
In 2001, Dan released his debut CD "Love And Bridges".
His brand new CD “Drove” has just been released to critical
acclaim. His debut single, “You Are All I Dream Of”, is
currently at country radio stations across Canada and was recently
#1 on Canada’s premiere internet radio station, Thatscountry.com.
Dan's songs have been recorded by a number of Canadian artists. He
achieved chart success when Debbie Nelson released his song on
Royalty Records, "Doesn't Really Matter". Dan performs
at writer’s nights in the Toronto area and in Nashville,
Tennessee. Dan also has a one-man show that features his original
songs along with songs by artists as diverse as Garth Brooks,
Eagles, John Mellencamp, Alan Jackson, Elton John, Billy Joel,
Travis Tritt and more. Dan has had the pleasure of performing on
stage with artists like Diane Chase, Gil Grand, Colin Amey, Jason
Barry, Barry Brown, and Wendell Ferguson. For Dan McVeigh, things have
gotten better with time.
